Last day in Kuopio, Finland

The newly renovated Finnish Orthodox church museum, full of icons, illustrated books, ecclesiastical objects is truly world class. Finland was under Russia for a time and there has been constant influx of Orthodox monks into the country converting a small percentage of Finns to the Orthodox faith. Today Lutheran churches exists side by side with Orthodox churches.

Next to the museum is this beautiful cemetery. The Finnish countryside is so beautiful that anywhere you want to plop down anything is going to be beautiful.
Here is a crafting center in the center of town.
Another open air museum of old Finnish life.
An old pharmacy can be found in the complex.
And the medicinal plants that they use to use grows next to the building. I leave tomorrow for Savonnlinna.
